General
Impression of Bella Sera Sangiovese, 2003
I selected this bottle because
I could not think of any reason I was not going to enjoy
it. I have found Bella Sera Pinot Grigio to be one of the
best low priced Pinot Grigio on the market and a dearly love the
fruity and dry simple flavors of wines made from Italy's signature grape Sangiovese.
I was not disappointed for a
moment. This is an excellent wine for its' price point and
has the added benefit of coming from the Di Toscana Appellation of Italy.
What
Flavors are Most Dominant or Evident In This Wine?
This wine is a deep purple
color with ripe cherry, raspberry and nutmeg aromas. Balanced
and dry, with flavors of plum and cranberry with a soft mildly
tannic finish. There are also some nice raspberry tones as
well. Over all it is a quite simple and very enjoyable
wine for everyday drinking.
What
foods will this wine go well with?
Clearly most American versions
of Italian foods will go well with this. Honestly this
will span a wide range. The person who prefers reds may
find it is a compromise with chicken and anything with tomatoes flavors will go very well. A surprise may be how well this
would accompany quite a few Mexican dishes including enchiladas or
tamales with chili. I know it is unconventional but give
it a shot it will pair beautifully.
What's
Grapes are In Bella Sera Sangiovese, 2003?
87% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, 8%
Teroldego
Will
I keep it In My Wine Rack, If So How Much?
Sure a bottle or two from time
to time. Easy to pick up any time and it won't age well so
no reason to stock up beyond what you will be drinking over then
next six months at most.
Who Is Going to Enjoy This Wine?
If you like typical Chianti
you will love this one and Sangiovese is the main grape in
Chianti wines. It is a easy to quaff fruity red that will
be enjoyed by anyone who likes easy to drink red wines.
