General
Impression of Francis Coppola Rosso Classic, 2004
My view is strap a more fancy
lable on it, put it in a boutique wine shop and sell it for 18
dollars a bottle and no one would even consider objecting to
it. This is just a great tasting red wine with reasonable
complexity that lets you enjoy it whether you are drinking a
glass just to pass the time or having it with a full dinner.
This is a good fun wine you
can afford to drink every day if you want to that will please
your guests and make them feel spoiled.
What
Flavors are Most Dominant or Evident In This Wine?
The most upfront flavors are plum,
cherry, boysenberry, licorice, spice and toasted oak. The
aromas are chocolate, coffee and black cherry.
What
foods will this wine go well with?
This one is absoultely perfect
for lamb in just about any form but grilled over hickory and
brushed with herbs would be a match made in heaven. It
would also pair well with any good beef based Mexican or Spanish
fair as well as good old fashioned steak and potatoes.
This is such a nice and well ballanced red wine that it will
pair well with just about any typical red wine choices.
Italian sausage and grilled pepper would be another ideal
pearing.

Will
I keep it In My Wine Rack?
You bet I will this is pretty
much the perfect everyday red wine that will please just about
anyone who like any red wine. I will be keeping it on hand
all the time but this is not a wine to age drink it in the next
year or two while it still has all its wonderful fruit.
What
Does the Bottle or Vintners Web Site Say About this Wine?
From the Vintners Tasting
Note, "Francis Coppola grew up with wine on the family table because his grandfather and uncles made homemade wine in the basement of their New York apartment. Using grapes that had been shipped in by train car from California, the family was able to make wines in simple concrete vats. According to Uncle Mikey, these weren’t fancy wines, but pleasurable everyday wines. Francis Coppola Presents Rosso and Bianco capture the essence of casual, easy-drinking wines that say
welcome home."
